Types of Alloys:
- Zinc-nickel alloy containing 0.5% nickel
- Zinc-nickel alloy containing 1% nickel
- Zinc-nickel alloy containing 2% nickel
Application Scope:
- Galvanizing of large quantities of structural parts
- Galvanizing of steel pipes by blowing
- Galvanizing of high-speed materials
Effect of the Alloy:
- It can effectively inhibit the Sandlin effect of steel with silicon content from 0.035% to 0.25%
- Avoid the appearance of super thick and gray galvanized layer
- Improve the uniformity of the coating
- Improve the surface brightness of galvanized parts
Table 1. Effect of Silicon in Steel on Galvanized Coating:
Classification | Si, % | P, % | Steel Activity | Appearance of Galvanized Coating |
---|---|---|---|---|
1. Inactive steel | 0-0.035 | 0-0.025 | Low normal | Beautiful appearance, sometimes the coating thickness is not enough |
2. Ascendlin steel | 0-0.04 | 0.025-0.035 | Normal | Sometimes there may be some minor defects due to the production of zeta layer |
3. High P Ascendlin steel | 0-0.04 | >0.035 | High | (especially high P) Wrinkled shell – tends to peel off |
4a. Low P Ascendlin steel | 0.04-0.135 | <0.01 | High | Defects such as color difference may occur |
4b. High-grade Ascendlin steel | 0.04-0.135 | >0.01 | High | Defects such as color difference may occur |
5a. Low P Sundelin steel | 0.135-0.35 | <0.03 | High | Defects such as color difference may occur |
5b. High P Guoshengdelin steel | 0.135-0.35 | >0.03 | High | Easy to peel off |
6. High Si and P steel | >0.35 | >0.03 | High | Easy to peel off |
Nickel Content Control Standard in Zinc:
- The nickel content in the galvanizing solution for structural parts is controlled at 0.03%-0.06%
- The nickel content in the galvanizing solution for steel pipes by blowing is controlled below 0.02%
- The nickel content in the galvanizing solution for high-speed materials is controlled below 0.03%
Zinc-Nickel Alloy Addition Method:
Galvanizing of large quantities of structural parts:
- Based on the content of elements in the zinc solution, and control the standard comparison to evaluate the amount of addition;
- Use a hanging basket to lift the zinc-nickel alloy 50cm below the surface of the zinc liquid and slowly melt it along the length of the zinc pot;
- After adding the alloy, let it stand for 1 hour before starting production.
Galvanizing of steel pipes by blowing:
- According to the different quality requirements of the galvanized pipe (zinc layer), choose the alloy with the appropriate nickel content to use in combination with the aluminum alloy;
- The requirements for the zinc layer are different, and the alloy is added to the zinc pot at different locations and at different times, and is added to the zinc solution in batches;
- The alloy addition is carried out under normal production conditions.
Galvanizing of high-speed materials:
- Choose an alloy with a moderate nickel content to add when necessary and use columns and baffles in a different way;
- Add small amounts multiple times at different intervals during production.
Specific addition methods will be provided by our company depending on the specific situation of each production line.
Precautions when using zinc alloy:
- According to the different products and processes of different companies, zinc-nickel alloys with different nickel contents are selected.
- Since the melting point of the nickel alloy is high, it is necessary to have sufficient melting time to avoid the formation of particles.
